Dr. Anthony E. Sharp, I
Pastor Sharp is a native of Houston, Texas and is a proud graduate of Jack Yates High School. At the age of 17, he accepted the divine call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a member of the New Providence Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. G. L. Boyd.
In 1979, Pastor Sharp received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion & Philosophy from Bishop College, and earned a Masters of Divinity degree with a focus on Pastoral Care from Texas Christian University’s Brite School of Divinity in 1983.
Pastor Sharp married his high school sweetheart, Janice Wilson Sharp, in 1981. They have one son, Anthony Earl Sharp, II.
Dr. Sharp has pastored the Tabernacle of Praise Missionary Baptist Church since its inception in 1994.
In addition to his pastoral ministry, Pastor Sharp serves as the Moderator of the Fellowship Missionary Baptist District Association, the 3rd Vice President of the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas, and the Vice President of Auxiliaries of the National Missionary Baptist Convention of America.
Dr. Sharp is a tremendously gifted preacher, teacher, and administrator, whom God has expanded the scope of his ministry to District, State and National levels. With such a love for God’s work, Dr. Sharp has devoted his life to God’s service and His people. Dr. Sharp’s vision remains to lead a bible-believing, bible-teaching Church where God’s people are equipped for the work of ministry.
